EL RITO ART ASSOCIATION

2019 Annual Report & Outlook for 2020

Dear Friends,

Thanks to the support of our community and partners, 2019 was a great year of growth for the El Rito Art Association. Through a partnership with Northern New Mexico College, we now have a home! The Arts Plaza located on the El Rito Campus of NNMC includes 2 large workshop spaces, an outdoor space which allowed us to expand the Mercado and a gallery to showcase local artists and grow our year-round programs.

Highlights from 2019 include…

  • Our mask making workshop in conjunction with the El Rito Fiesta

  • Our Youth Works Corp Open Studios

  • Our sold out Tin Workshop with Carmen Campos

  • Three Open Studio/Ornament Making Workshops in September

  • The 33rd Annual El Rito Studio Tour and Mercado which brought over 600 visitors to El Rito

  • And our Winter Wednesdays potluck dinners and movie screenings as part of our continuing education class at NNMC (Join us on Wednesdays through February and enroll at the door for free!)

Looking forward to 2020…

  • We’ll soon be opening our pottery studio at the Arts Plaza where we’ll have workshops & open studios.

  • We have plans to have multiple Mercados in 2020 to offer local artists more opportunities to showcase and sell their work, while bringing the community together around art, food and music.

  • We’re also thrilled to share that we’ve been awarded a 2020 Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area grant to host multiple workshops highlighting traditional arts of Northern New Mexico.

Our work isn’t possible without the support of the community. Please make a contribution today to help make 2020 our best year yet. We’re a small organization that knows how to do a lot with a little so even a gift of $25 goes a long way! Donate online here or send a check made payable to: El Rito Art Association, PO Box 143, El Rito, NM 87530.

El Rito Art Association supports and nurtures the El Rito art community through public programming, education and maintaining the traditional art culture of Northern New Mexico.
